Mouse

     Mouse

mouse, hand-controlled electromechanical device for interacting with a digital computer that has a graphical user interface. The mouse can be moved around on a flat surface to control the movement of a cursor on the computer display screen. Equipped with one or more buttons, it can be used to select text, activate programs, or move items around the screen by quickly pressing and releasing one of the buttons (“clicking”) or by keeping a button depressed while moving the device (“clicking and dragging”).
  • It is direct entry input device.
  • Also called pointing device.
  • It used in graphical Environment(used only GUI)
  • Developed by Douglas Englebart in 1964.
Types of Mouse:

1. Mechanical Mouse (used track ball):
Mechanical Mouse is a mouse of a metal or rubber ball in its downside which move with the roll of ball downside and send the signal of cursor on the screen.

2. Opto mechanical Mouse(ball-sensor)
Opto-mechanical mouse is consist of a ball that rolls one of two wheels inside the mouse. Each wheel contains a circle of holes or notches, allowing an LED light to shine through and be detected by a sensor.

3. Optical Mouse (Sensor used)
An optical mouse is a computer mouse which uses a light source, typically a light-emitting diode (LED), and a light detector, such as an array of photodiodes, to detect movement relative to a surface. Variations of the optical mouse have largely replaced the older mechanical mouse design, which uses moving parts to sense motion.

4. Wireless Mouse (infra ray used)
A mouse that connects to the computer without a cord. Bluetooth mice are commonly used with tablets, because most tablets have Bluetooth built in. They can also be used with a computer that has Bluetooth from the factory or via an adapter.
